Nikki I. Lucas represents the 60th District in the New York State Assembly and serves as a Democratic District Leader and State Committee Member. Raised in civic involvement from a young age, she is a longtime resident of Starrett City and a dedicated advocate for the neighborhoods of East New York, Brownsville, and Canarsie.

Before assuming elected office in February 2022, Lucas built a diverse career as a management consultant, a small business owner, and a community advocate. She is the founder of The People First Democratic Club and The People First Education Fund, organizations dedicated to uplifting residents citywide. In the Assembly, Lucas focuses on housing, economic development, healthcare, and labor, serving on numerous committees to drive policy that supports working families. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in policy studies and conflict resolution from Syracuse University.

Kenesha Traynham-Cooper Former Democratic District Leader, 56th Assembly District

Born and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, Kenesha Traynham-Cooper is a dedicated community organizer, entrepreneur, and civic leader. She serves as the Female Democratic District Leader for the 56th Assembly District and as the 1st Vice Chair of the Brooklyn Democratic Party. A passionate advocate for youth and economic empowerment, she is the President of 4 Future Generations Inc., an NYC-certified MWBE company. Her community organizing philosophy is rooted in direct action: analyzing neighborhood needs and implementing tangible action plans to bridge gaps and reduce violence. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Medgar Evers College, a Master of Public Administration from Metropolitan College of New York, and a Master of Divinity from Nyack College, and she serves her community as a minister and chaplain.

The Honorable Félix W. Ortiz is a veteran public servant, military veteran, and the current 2nd Vice Chair of the Brooklyn Democratic Party. For over 25 years, from 1995 to 2020, he represented Brooklyn’s 51st Assembly District—encompassing Sunset Park, Red Hook, and parts of Bay Ridge—in the New York State Assembly, where he rose to the leadership position of Assistant Speaker.

During his tenure in Albany, Ortiz built a legacy as a pioneering legislator. He is perhaps best known for authoring the nation's first law banning the use of handheld cell phones while driving, a landmark 2001 public safety measure that catalyzed similar legislation nationwide. Throughout his career, he has been a staunch advocate for public health, youth empowerment, immigrant rights, and environmental justice.

Born in Puerto Rico and a veteran of the United States Army, Ortiz has dedicated his life to civic duty, public service, and grassroots advocacy, continuing to champion the diverse communities of Brooklyn.

Donald Day is a dedicated public servant, a United States Marine Corps veteran, and the current Secretary of the Brooklyn Democratic Party. Day brings an extensive and uniquely diverse professional background to his civic leadership. His public sector work history spans the municipal and state levels, including serving as a Senior Secretary to a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, working as a Communications Specialist for the New York City Department of Transportation, and serving as a Train Operator for NYC Transit. In the private sector, his executive experience includes serving as the CEO of a licensed construction company.

A Vietnam-era veteran who completed tours of duty in Europe and Southeast Asia, Day is a tireless advocate for his fellow servicemembers. He serves as a Vice Commander with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Department of New York, and as a Deputy Representative for the Veterans Affairs Voluntary Services at the Brooklyn VA Hospital, where he actively assists veterans in securing their disability benefits. He has also notably served as the Chief Marshal for the annual Kings County Memorial Day Parade.

He holds a Bachelor's degree with honors in Liberal Arts from the College of New Rochelle.

Chris Durosinmi, is a lifelong Brooklyn resident, community advocate, and the Assistant Secretary of the Brooklyn Democratic Party. With a strong background bridging government, politics, advocacy, and conservation, Durosinmi has dedicated his career to empowering marginalized communities and advocating for the borough's working families.

He has held significant public and community affairs roles, including serving as the Mayor’s Community Coordinator for the Pre-K for All initiative at the NYC Department of Education, where he worked to expand early childhood education access. He has also served as the Director of Government and Community Affairs for the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) at the New York Aquarium, and previously as the Assistant Director of Government and Community Affairs for the Alliance for Coney Island. In 2021, Durosinmi ran for the New York City Council to represent District 37, advocating for the communities of Bushwick, Cypress Hills, Brownsville, and East New York.

Raised in Brooklyn, Durosinmi’s work is deeply rooted in neighborhood revitalization, environmental justice, and ensuring diverse representation in both government and community spaces.
